Designer stationery is the new must-have fashion accessory
As stationery sales rise throughout autumn, fashion houses and graphic artists are starting a new trend in bespoke letterheads and business cards. While wedding dress designer Vera Wang has just announced her own range, many individuals are creating their own personalised styles in an attempt to break away from the norm.
The new Vera Wang Fine Prints collection, produced by stationery manufacturer William Arthur, uses a wide range of typesets, colours and styles, and is described by art director Meghan Carey as the ideal gift. Meanwhile, the Guardian have launched their own stationery range in collaboration with artist Noma Bar, creating a minimalist design with bold single-colour motifs.
Other consumers want something a little more personal, and custom-made letterheads and cards are becoming more and more popular as people start looking for ways to promote events or businesses on a budget. Fashion designer Vanessa Barber created her own stationery after struggling to find exactly what she wanted for her wedding this summer. Those who just want products for themselves are using custom design print services such as those offered by Flyerzone, allowing them to make a distinct first impression and put their own spin on their personal events.
